Just continuing the same format as last weeks. As I wrap up a first pass with each main character, I’ll likely do combinations and prompts with other characters as well. Again, I’ll bring in pop culture as long as it makes sense instead of things relevant to their world as needed. Whenever I do so none of those things are canon to that world and those characters I’m building if that makes any sense. You can find the prompts I’m using here.
The more I do this, the more comfortable I’ll feel with them all right?
April 28th Character: Gen Naka Prompt: Early bird, or night owl? There is more to this right? Everyone else obviously has received harder questions than me because they took quite some time to complete their statement. They got to answer philosophical questions about the ways that they view life and all you ask me is if I wake up early or stay up late? I do whatever is necessary depending on the circumstances that are given to me. If I eat late, I'll stay up later. I don't, I go to sleep earlier and get up whenever my REM patterns indicate it is the optimal time, unless we are under attack. In that case, I won't sleep unless I'm sure that everything around me is secure. You can tell me now, is there more to this question? If so, I don't see it. Are you trying to suggest I have a crazy neck or I love to annoy people with my songs? Because I'll tell you what, I'm a fantastic singer. I'll show them all the next time we do karaoke. ALL OF THEM WILL BOW TO MY PROWESS! April 29th Characters: Jariq and Aura Prompt: Do you feel uncomfortable when you see someone else being embarrassed? what is most likely to make you squirm? "Oh my god! That would be the worst thing ever!" Said Aura as she fidgeted in her chair. She looked at her brother who looked back at her nonchalant. Her face grew red and she sulked into her chair with her arms folded. "Shut the fuck up little brother." His eyes grew wide. "I didn't even say anything!" His shoulders broadened to highlight his confoundment. "Asshole". Her face was scrunched in as she inflected her voice to sound like a bratty child. "I'll give you the fact that I'm an asshole, but not about this." Exclaimed Jariq. "I just don't see the benefit of screaming at the top of my lungs and running at the sight of every odd circumstance. Have you ever thought about how even more shitty it makes the other person feel?" Appalled, but in agreement, she stopped sulking. "Look at you squirming and shit. Don't you feel like an asshole?" Jariq got up and clapped his hands together. "I think we're done here." "No." Aura pouted. "You didn't say what makes you squirm." "Your gore and murder porn." Jariq's lip turned up. "How can you look at that stuff all the time? " "Because I'm a Bio-Engineer? I don't understand why you have to call it that." "Because it is?" "How else am I supposed to study the human body?" "Read a book? Look at 3D models? Cadavers? Don' hide behind that educational bullshit, the majority of the bases of that show starts with are inaccurate." "Yeah? Well, it keeps me on my toes, makes me focus on what I actually know." "Do you know how else you can do that? Go on the internet! You can find tons of bullshit and at least a quarter of it won't be murder or gore porn." "I think we are done here." "In conclusion, we are both squeamish in are own ways and you like murder porn." Aura stormed off. April 30th Character: Sage Anderson Prompt: Do you need to agree with an artist’s lifestyle or politics to appreciate their art? To spend money on it? Yes. I can't appreciate anything from anyone unless we have the same opinion. I don't see a problem with this viewpoint. If I am to be true to myself, what better way than to surround myself with support to the truth? May 1st Characters: Sakura and Kurino Prompt: To what extent is your blog a place for your own self-expression and creativity vs. a site designed to attract readers? How do you balance that? If sticking to certain topics and types of posts meant your readership would triple, would you do it? "What is a blog?" Asked Sakura quizzically as she continued to stare at the prompt. "Seriously?" Kurino sighed. "In this century, I find it astonishing that you barely use the internet." Kurino paused expecting a reaction to come from Sakura, but she continued her quizzical look. "A blog is like a journal that you write online. It could be about whatever topic you want, real or unreal." "Ooooooh~ Do you have one?" Kurino turned red. "I want to read it!" "No I don't." Sakura looked flustered. "I have a diary that I haven't touched in a few... years." Kurino struggled to utter the last word and felt ashamed from prodding her. "Ah..." She looked down for a second and then back to Kurino. "Well, when you feel ready to, you should start up one. I should start up one now. It would be pretty cool." "What would you write about?" "Probably about the efforts that we are doing here. Not just about me, but all of us here. Get people to know the backgrounds of all of us and get to know why we are all doing this." "So you want to do PR for us because aside from you and Gen, we are all Gaijin or Haifu?" "I guess... but..." Sakura was slow to respond, but Kurino rubbed her shoulder and smiled. "I'm not saying it is bad. I'd appreciate it. Thank you. May 2nd Characters: Nadia and Odin Medvedev Prompt: Turn to your co-workers, kids, Facebook friends, family — anyone who’s accessible — and ask them to suggest an article, an adjective, and a noun. There’s your post title! Now write. "Honey?" Called Nadia, she wouldn't peer an inch away from her screen. "Yes Nadia?" Responded Odin. "What are you watching~?" She joyfully asked. "Just flipping through the news, everyone seems to be talking about Joel McHale's performance at the White House instead of, you know, news?" He turned to her and smiled. "I'm hungry. We should get some good food." Nadia nodded, not moving from her screen. "I'm sorry, but I'm a little busy hon. If you want to go out with the boys, I can meet up with you later or I'll see you tonight?" She proceeded to type on her keyboard. "Oh... okay." He sat up and pulled out his phone to text the gang. "You don't have to tell me twice." He walked beside her and ruffled her hair. "Let me know when you are done. You know how to find me." Nadia looked up at him smiling back. They gave each other a quick kiss and he quietly walked out the room. Alone in a quiet room, she then began to crank out her work: Title: Joel McHale's Great White House Performance This title is absurd. I tried watching this for a few minutes, I've seen him before on that Community show but I didn't watch it for him. I mainly watched the show for Chevy Chase who is a brilliant dark comedian. I know someday my daughter will slow down and give him a chance. Then probably complain: "Why didn't you show me this before~?". I did sweetheart, but you felt you had to watch that same Tiny Toons dvd for the 80th time first and then went to sleep after the opening of National Lampoon's Vacation. One day you'll learn, and you'll regret wasting so much time in your life. We all feel that at one point in our lives. May 3rd Characters: Ken Jackson Prompt: Describe a little thing — one of the things you love that defines your world but is often overlooked. This phone is my everything. Jariq, Aura, and a few of their friends helped make this for me after I kept locking myself out everywhere. They told me I'll likely never want another phone as long as I live, they are right. It allows key-less entry to everything I own. It only works if it is on my person and there is a counter-mechanism to stop it if I'm being threatened. However, the best feature of all is that I can leave my headset on the back of it and it actually charges! I'm sure your phones can use a billion different apps that you'll only use once, but mine will do exactly what I want for the foreseeable future. May 4th Characters: Jariq Masters Prompt: How do you communicate differently online than in person, if at all? How do you communicate emotion and intent in a purely written medium? My effort of communication in person and online varies differently dependent on the situation. Because of this, I'd say that I communicate the same way in both methods. As long as it doesn't affect the person that I am addressing, I'll communicate in the same manner. At times, this is to a fault. For example, I'll continue the same conversation between online and in person, this annoys some people, but it is the only tick that I won't drop because I hate being redundant. That is their problem, not mine. That said, it isn't to say that I don't have different persona online. There are groups and people that know me, so I won't hide behind a persona, but there are those that don't. I'll hide by a persona for those cases to same me from a side of them I wish to not interact with or to save them from themselves. I also do this in person too. Whether it is that one D&D session a year I go to or that guy I let cut my hair before a major event in my life. How do I communicate with emotion and intent in a purely written medium? I guess that is the crux of it, I'm rarely emotional about things. If I have to be, I'll probably use italics, bold, and underline to declare my emphasis and use emoticons for my emotions. However, I think my use of language is a better indication of my mood. If I use a lot of adjectives, I am usually cheery or have a lot of time on my hands. If the text is monotone, I'm in an okay mood. If the structure is all over the place, I don't care. If I use strong words or expletives, I am fairly angry.
